Mur Island

Floating in the middle of the river, lit up at night in unusual colours, the Mur Island is a distinctive piece of architecture in Graz.

Built in 2003 during the city’s year as European Capital of Culture, the island enables the inhabitants of Graz to rediscover their river, allowing them to experience it hands-on. The spectacular structure links the two banks of the Mur and, during the summer months, is also a popular open-air location.
