Graz Central Railway Station

Graz Central Railway Station’s most eye-catching feature is its unconventional station roofing in the form of a wave, covering an area of around 4,500 square metres. The wave symbolises movement and mobility, reflecting the dynamics of modern railway travel. At a lofty height of 8 metres, it gives people the feeling of being outdoors. The daylight is concentrated together by its translucent overhead skin and reflective aluminium sheets, creating a sky-like effect.

At nightfall too, an efficient low-energy LED system and additional indirect bluish lighting at the main supports create a special atmosphere.

The new platform roofing at Graz Central Station was completed at the beginning of 2015. Existing platform roofing from various architectural periods is neatly integrated into the overall concept of the railway station, which is both modern and customer-friendly.
